On Anxiety

We all hold some form of anxiety. It’s just that as adults we have more options to cope and express, while our children do not. Often times, the anxieties outsize their vocabulary to express, and its only outlet is through their body language. Which can unfortunately characterized as ‘laziness’, ‘poor behaviour’ and ‘lack of ambition’.

‘Self defence’, a hallmark of martial art must therefore be quantified—our attackers are not always another human being. Sometimes we are under attack from our own minds.

Our program begins from this mindset.

That building strong minds begins with addressing the factors that affect it in the first place.

The Process

  • Sometimes youth exercise is delivered as a means to create fatigue,to attain all the things that come with fatigue (silence, obedience). This approach is short sighted. Our classes begin with a physical component driven by athleticism, creativity and passion. Athleticism creates function, creativity creates awareness and passion becomes discipline.

  • We follow the physical portion of class with self defence techniques of Muay Thai, within social contexts of Conflict. Self defence does not begin when a punch is thrown. Self defence should begin much earlier, and our children should understand how violence precipitates.

  • By understanding the dynamics of various forms of violence (verbal, psychological, emotional) our goal is to enable students ability to forecast violence; that physical violence is a breakdown of something less physical early on.

We will express these through simple thought challenges in class, and provide students the opportunity to respond verbally, or written.

Meet the Team

  • Kru Yai Nick Bautista

    PROGRAM DIRECTOR

“I believe a good martial art program to be the assistant to the home. Our job is to educate our children with the ‘b’ sides of life, and prepare them. As program director, I write the curriculum and lesson plans to deliver a balanced physical education experience that results in greater curiosity and passion.”

  • Poo Choi Kru Thomas Chavez

    HEAD YOUTH INSTRUCTOR

“As a father of 2, the martial art school has been my children’s second home and place of solice. I take immense pride in sharing a critical life skill, and watching our children turn it into their own skill, right before our very eyes. And it is that precise moment, when our kids own their skills that make a martial art school so precious to me and something I want all my students to experience.”

  • Poo Choi Kru Tremaine Goldson

    ASSISTANT YOUTH INSTRUCTOR

“Kids just need a space to grow and enjoy, free from judgement and expectation. That’s what I’ve enjoyed the most about Muay Thai and what I hope to provide to our youth to experience as well”
